Frequently Asked Questions

1. Will it take long to learn how to dance?

It really depends on the individual, but you will be able to begin dancing after your first lesson. The length of your training depends on how many dances you would like to learn. More practice helps you learn faster, everybody can work at their own pace and at the studio.

2. How much do lessons cost? Our dance lessons are affordable for everyone. Click on our prices page for more details.

3. Do I need a partner?

No, our group classes rotate throughout the class. You can also take private lessons on one-on-one basis with our instructors.

4. I just want to dance with my partner. Do I have to rotate?

Rotating partners helps you practice dancing with different people, but it is certainly not mandatory. If you do not want to rotate, talk to your dance instructor and find a spot outside the line of rotation so that those who are rotating don't get confused.

5. What should I wear?

For our classes and workshops, wear something that is comfortable and easy to move in. Our special event parties tend to be more dressy.6. Do I need dancing shoes?

Preferably. Dancing shoes with suede bottoms are best on our hardwood floor. We highly discourage street shoes that easily scuff and mark up the ballroom floor. Rubber soles generally are not good to dance in, neither are heavy or thick-soled shoes. Dance shoes are more flexible and light, but more importantly, slide, without slipping.

7. If I'm late for a lesson, can I still join in?

Yes, just enter quietly, but please don't expect the teacher to fill you in on what you missed. He or she has to consider the needs of the rest of the class. Most likely, though, you will be able to pick up what you missed by watching the rest of the class.

8. I want to take a series of class, but I have to miss one. Is that ok?It's recommended that you make all of the classes because the teacher might not repeat what you missed.  However, we recognize that life is unpredictable and we try to review steps previously taught in each classes.  The best way to learn, though, is to attend every class and get the full instruction for each step.

9. Will my lessons interfere with my busy schedule?

You may take private lessons any time you wish. Most of our group lessons start on weeknights after 7.
